Title: From Audit Findings to Action: Strengthening Public Sector Accountability Through Digital Oversight

Description: Finding a weakness in the use of public funds raises a further question: what action followed? This session will highlight how the expanded mandate of the Supreme Audit Institution of Malaysia supports scrutiny of public money and how the Auditor General’s Dashboard tracks responses to issues brought to light through audit, keeping corrective action visible after the report is published. It will explore how digital oversight maintains focus on unresolved issues and strengthens accountability for public resources.

Bio: Her Excellency Dato’ Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi is the Auditor General of Malaysia and a distinguished public sector leader with more than three decades of experience in governance, public administration, international trade and institutional reform. Since her appointment in 2023, she has led the National Audit Department in advancing audit modernization, digital transformation and risk-based auditing, while strengthening accountability and transparency in the management of public resources. Prior to her current role, she served as Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Institute of Integrity and held key leadership positions in the Malaysian civil service including Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Unity and the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives as well as Deputy Secretary General in the Ministry of Trade and Industry Malaysia.

At the international level, Her Excellency Dato’ Seri Wan Suraya is currently Member of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) Governing Board; Chair of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) Working Group on Follow-up Audit (WGFA), Chair of the ASOSAI Working Group on State-Owned Enterprises Audit (WGSOEA), Deputy Chair of the ASOSAI Working Group on Regional and Municipal Audit (WGRMA) and Chair of the ASEAN Supreme Audit Institutions (ASEANSAI) Knowledge Sharing Committee (KSC), championing innovation, knowledge sharing and excellence in public sector auditing. In 2026, she was conferred an Honorary Professorship by the Nanjing Audit University, China, in recognition of her contributions to the advancement of auditing and public sector governance. Adding to her global accolades, she has received the prestigious Donald R. Cressey Award from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) in 2026, the world’s leading community of anti-fraud professionals. This landmark recognition underscores her lifelong commitment to integrity, accountability, and the global fight against fraud.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Identify how the expanded mandate of the Supreme Audit Institution of Malaysia enhances oversight over the use of public funds and supports stronger public sector accountability.
• Explain how the Auditor General’s digital dashboard is used to track management responses to audit findings and keep corrective actions visible after reports are published.

Event Policies

In order to receive CPE credit for this presentation, the attendee must attend for 50 minutes and answer three poll questions randomly presented during the event.

Program Cancellation Policy

If you have registered and/or paid for an event and you need to cancel, you MUST cancel online through your account no later than 5 days prior to the event, unless otherwise indicated in specific event policies, to request a refund and/or cancel your registration. The Chapter must confirm event registrations with the venue prior to the event and any changes after this time period can become a financial cost to the Chapter. The Chapter reserves the right to make the final determination on what percentage charge/refund will be returned for cancellations made after the cutoff. The default condition is that cancellations made after cutoff will be charged at 100% and/or no refunds will be allowed. In the event the Chapter determines that partial charges or refunds will be allowed, they will be made on a case by case basis.

In the event of having to cancel one of the events,  the Chapter would immediately send an email blast to all registrants with the emails they used for registration.  The Chapter media relations officer would post on all social media platforms notifying members of the cancellation, and the Chapter webmaster would also post cancellation on the Chapter website.

In the event an attendee does not show up to the event, the registration cost will be forfeited. If payment at the door was the selected method, then the attendee will be billed for the full cost of the event.
