Speaker: Karen Weintraub, EVP, Healthcare Fraud Shield

Title: Fraud, Waste, and Abuse - Using AI Model for detection & Prevention                                  

Description:  This presentation will include several case studies identified using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in combination with traditional analytics. With each Case Study we will walk through the steps of identified and how an integrated solution provides maximum effectiveness, ROI and results. The session will review the steps taken once AI identifies a lead, the vetting process of the lead, how AI is used with the information identified within Postpayment analytics, the pros and cons of traditional analytics vs. AI, and the importance of subject matter experts throughout the process.

Bio:  Karen Weintraub is the Executive Vice President for Healthcare Fraud Shield. As EVP, Ms. Weintraub is responsible for the design and development of the company’s healthcare fraud detection software products and services. She provides subject matter expertise on system design and workflow, business rule development, data mining and fraud outlier algorithms as well as Special Investigation Unit policies and procedures.

Prior to joining Healthcare Fraud Shield, Ms. Weintraub managed SIU Services and investigations at both technology vendor and private payer companies. Ms. Weintraub received a BA in Criminal Justice from the University of Delaware and an MA in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University. Ms. Weintraub is a Certified Professional Coder for Payers (CPC-P), a Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) from the American Academy of Professional Coders and the founder of a local AAPC chapter. She is also an Accredited Healthcare Fraud Investigator (AHFI) from the National Healthcare Anti-Fraud Association (NHCAA). Ms. Weintraub Taught CPT Coding, Fraud & Audits, and Medical Billing, Laws and Ethics at the local community college. Ms. Weintraub is also a well-known speaker with prior speaking engagements with organizations such as NHCAA, ACAP, HCCA, AHIP, IASIU, NJSIA, IFPA, FBI and more.

Recommended CPE hours: 1.0 credits.  You must attend the full session plus answer three polling questions to qualify for the CPE credit.

If you have registered and/or paid for an event and you need to cancel, you MUST email events@houstonacfe.org no later than 5 days prior to the event to request a refund and/or cancel your registration.      

Program Cancellation Policy

If you have registered and/or paid for an event and you need to cancel, you MUST cancel online through your account no later than 5 days prior to the event, unless otherwise indicated in specific event policies, to request a refund and/or cancel your registration. The Chapter must confirm event registrations with the venue prior to the event and any changes after this time period can become a financial cost to the Chapter. The Chapter reserves the right to make the final determination on what percentage charge/refund will be returned for cancellations made after the cutoff. The default condition is that cancellations made after cutoff will be charged at 100% and/or no refunds will be allowed. In the event the Chapter determines that partial charges or refunds will be allowed, they will be made on a case by case basis.

In the event of having to cancel one of the events,  the Chapter would immediately send an email blast to all registrants with the emails they used for registration.  The Chapter media relations officer would post on all social media platforms notifying members of the cancellation, and the Chapter webmaster would also post cancellation on the Chapter website.

In the event an attendee does not show up to the event, the registration cost will be forfeited. If payment at the door was the selected method, then the attendee will be billed for the full cost of the event. The Chapter reserves the right to bar future registrations for any attendees who routinely register and fail to pay and/or attend the event.  If you have any questions you may email events@houstonacfe.org."
