Chrysti Ziegler and Katherine Avery Guillot had the honor of presenting the Houston Area ACFE Scholarship at Sam Houston State's College of Business Administration Academic Awards Program. The recipient, Tia Shofner, graduated with a Bachelors in Accounting in December 2017 and will pursue her Masters in Accounting beginning in the Fall of 2018. Tia currently serves as the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Student Chapter President at Sam Houston State University. Ms. Shofner, Dr. Oscar Harvin, and the SHSU ACFE Student Chapter board members have worked tirelessly to provide high-quality anti-fraud education opportunities to SHSU students. Congratulations, Tia!
"I am extremely excited about the Houston ACFE’s plans to award an annual scholarship to a Sam Houston State University student! In addition to providing financial assistance to a student each year, the scholarship will promote the benefits of students belonging to the ACFE and encourage the pursuit of fraud related careers. Sam Houston State University is uniquely primed to develop students for fraud related careers as a result of its excellent accounting, criminal justice and digital forensic academic programs." - Dr. Oscar J. Harvin, Assistant Accounting Professor and SHSU ACFE Student Chapter Faculty Advisor
